Part of Influencer agencies measurement: populations and an evidence ladder
Influencer agencies reporting dashboard: buyer checklist
Use this influencer agencies reporting dashboard checklist to assess an agency's data definitions, refresh rules, corrections, privacy and decision evidence.
An influencer agencies reporting dashboard should be a governed view of defined records, not a collage of screenshots. Specify its data contract first. An England buyer should be able to reproduce every tile from the named source, query and version, then see whether a decision is ready or still on hold.
What to take away
- Specify each tile's source, query version, population and owner before publishing any dashboard view.
- Keep numerator and denominator together so displayed percentages remain reproducible from named records.
- Separate funnel states and platform fields into controlled tables linked by documented campaign, creator and asset keys.
- After close, an approved correction creates a new version rather than silently replacing history.
- Release only after data, evaluation, privacy, finance and accessibility checks are complete.
Assess the tile contract
Ask the agency to record the objective and precise event for each tile. Name the eligible population, numerator and denominator, or the single unit if it is a count or currency value. Add reporting start and end, Europe/London timezone, source account, table or export, query name, query version, inclusions, exclusions, deduplication rule, owner and the buyer's decision threshold.
Tile contract fields
- Objective and precise event
- Eligible population, numerator, denominator
- Reporting start and end, Europe/London
- Source account, table or export
- Query name and version
- Inclusions, exclusions, deduplication rule
- Owner and decision threshold
Keep both parts of a ratio. A displayed creator-response percentage is not reproducible if the dashboard discards the count contacted. The same rule applies to approved deliverables and verified publications. ONS defines quality partly through fitness for purpose, timeliness and coherence and comparability. Those official-statistics principles are a useful design check, although this buyer dashboard is not an official statistic.
Separate the tables
Do not force every stage into a single platform export. Use controlled tables for creator eligibility and contact, contract deliverables, asset versions and approvals, publication captures, platform observations, internal commercial events, cost and evaluation assignments. Link them through documented campaign, creator, asset and event keys.
The funnel states stay distinct: eligible, contacted, responded, contracted, approved, scheduled and verified live. A post that is live but not captured cannot silently become zero. A commercial event credited by a platform belongs in an attributed table until the internal ledger reconciles it.
Platform fields also require definition snapshots. YouTube's first-party description calls unique viewers an estimated audience measure and distinguishes it from views in its audience-data help. Store the label, platform, definition URL, extraction time and account configuration. Never merge similarly named fields until their units and eligibility rules match.
Check influencer metrics at source
A sample campaign dashboard should show reach, impressions, engagement rate, video views and completion, plus any cost or value measures the agency proposes. For each figure, ask what is counted: engagement rate needs a stated numerator and denominator; video completion needs a stated completion rule. Keep reach and impressions distinct, and do not treat them as unique people unless the source supports that interpretation.
Ask the agency to identify the actual account and native report or export behind each platform field: Instagram Insights or Meta Business Suite for Meta reporting, TikTok Analytics for TikTok, and YouTube Studio for YouTube. Field availability and export options can depend on account access and platform changes, so ask to see the source used for your campaign. Keep YouTube unique viewers distinct from views.
If the dashboard includes CPM, CPC or ROAS, require the spend, impression, click or revenue definitions and the reporting window. Label EMV as a modelled valuation, show its method and assumptions, and keep it separate from observed revenue. A sample tile list might therefore include live deliverables, reach, impressions, engagement rate, video views and completion, CPM or CPC, attributed ROAS, and EMV where its method is disclosed.
Test the agency's own dashboard
Ask the agency to demonstrate a live or anonymised campaign view and its underlying source report or export. Which tiles are imported, manually entered, calculated or modelled? Who owns each connection, what permissions does it use, how are missing values and corrections shown, and can the buyer export the evidence and definitions? Ask what dashboard product the agency provides and whether access continues after the engagement ends.
When comparing directory candidates such as Billion Dollar Boy or Goat, ask each agency to demonstrate its own dashboard; their names alone do not establish that they use a particular product or provide particular features.
Set the refresh and close rules
Give each source a refresh owner and cadence. Show "data through" separately from "dashboard refreshed". Set a provisional close date for late creator, platform, return and finance records. After close, an approved correction creates a new version; it does not replace history without notice.
Use explicit missingness values: not received, not available, suppressed, failed validation and not applicable. Zero means the event was eligible to occur and none was recorded. ONS guidance explains that survey estimates carry sampling and non-sampling uncertainty. For campaign data, disclose the relevant uncertainty source rather than borrowing an ONS interval mechanically.
Maintain a correction log with the old value, new value, reason, source file, approver, time and affected decisions. If a changed platform window or query alters a series, mark a break rather than drawing a smooth trend through incompatible definitions.
Control privacy and access
Publish the least detailed view that supports the decision. Restrict creator contact records and customer-event joins to authorised roles; aggregated tiles do not excuse unlawful collection.
For UK campaigns, have a named adviser review configured tracking and data roles against PECR and UK GDPR where relevant. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the UK's regulator for data protection and electronic marketing rules; ask the adviser to check the ICO's applicable guidance as well as the campaign's actual processing.
Record suppression rules, access logs, retention, export and deletion routes. Security review covers credentials and reporting connectors. Accessibility review checks reading order, labels, contrast, tables and exported files, not merely the dashboard theme.
Put decisions beside evidence
Each tile ends with owner, buyer-defined threshold, action, pause condition and next review. Label figures observed, platform-reported, modelled, attributed, forecast or causal. Google states that conversion modelling predicts otherwise unobserved conversions in relevant cases; such a field must not be presented as a directly observed transaction.
Release the dashboard only after a data owner has reproduced the query, an evaluation reviewer has checked inference, privacy and PECR review has cleared the actual processing, finance has reconciled value and cost, and an accessibility specialist has checked the delivered report. Until then, its publication status is HOLD.
Before you act
- Record the objective, event, population, query and version for every tile.
- Check reach, impressions, engagement rate, views and completion against named platform sources and definitions.
- Keep both parts of every ratio in the contract; document the basis for CPM, CPC, ROAS and any modelled EMV.
- Ask the agency to demonstrate its own dashboard and underlying reports or exports.
- Set a refresh owner, cadence and provisional close date per source.
- Use explicit missingness values instead of blank cells.
- Log corrections with the old value, new value, reason and approver.
- Confirm privacy review against PECR, UK GDPR and applicable ICO guidance.
Common questions
What should a tile contract record for each tile?
Record the objective and precise event, plus the eligible population and the numerator and denominator or single unit. Also note reporting start and end, the Europe/London timezone, and the source account, table or export. Add query name and version, inclusions, exclusions, deduplication rule, owner and the decision threshold set by the buyer.
Why must numerator and denominator stay together?
A displayed creator-response percentage is not reproducible if the dashboard discards the count contacted. The same rule applies to approved deliverables and verified publications. Keeping both parts lets a buyer reproduce the figure from the named source, query and version.
What happens after the provisional close date?
After close, an approved correction creates a new version; it does not replace history without notice. Maintain a correction log with old value, new value, reason, source file, approver, time and affected decisions. If a changed platform window or query alters a series, mark a break.
